At Exam Centre, we offer the City & Guilds Functional Skills Maths Level 2 exam online—an Ofqual-approved qualification equivalent to a GCSE Maths grade A*-C. The Online Functional Skills Maths Level 2 exam is designed to assess practical mathematical skills applicable in real-life situations. The exam comprises two sections:
Non-Calculator Section: 25 minutes, accounting for 25% of the total marks.
Calculator Section: 1 hour and 20 minutes, accounting for 75% of the total marks.
The total duration of the exam is 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Online Exam is a remotely invigilated on-screen test, monitored live by an invigilator with the support of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The test will be recorded to maintain integrity and standardisation.
You will be awarded either a ‘PASS’ or ‘FAIL’ for the overall exam (i.e. Section 1 and Section 2 combined).

Complete Your Booking: After selecting your preferred slot, proceed to payment to secure your booking.
Pending Confirmation: Upon booking, you will receive a pending confirmation email.
Approval: Within 2 working days, we will review your booking and send an approval email with further instructions.
Once we approve your online exam booking, City & Guilds will send you a welcome email within 2 working days. The welcome email includes preparatory material, instructions on how to access the test and the system requirements. Please contact us after 2 working days if you did not receive the Welcome Email.

To ensure your Functional Skills exam runs smoothly, it is essential that you read and follow the instructions in the Candidate Guide before your test. Careful preparation will help prevent delays or problems on the day of your online exam.
If difficulties arise during your exam because of your own computer, internet, exam room setup, onboarding, or any other personal issue, the exam fee is non-refundable and a free reschedule will not be provided.
In cases where you cannot access or complete your exam, the invigilator/proctor may advise you to contact our centre to arrange a new booking. This guidance does not mean a free re-sit; they simply asking you to inform us. Any problems must be reported immediately by emailing booking@examcentre.co.uk, so that we can escalate the matter to the awarding body if required.

Functional Skills assessments are graded as either a ‘pass’ or ‘fail’. There are no proxies and no portfolio elements for these qualifications.
Functional Skills Maths Level 2: one computer based examination

The length of time taken to receive your Functional Skills exam result will vary subject to time of year and the awarding organisation. As soon as we receive notification of your result we will contact you to let you know.
We generally receive the result within a week; but officially, it may take up to 20 working days for City & Guilds to mark each Functional Skills exam and inform us. On exceptional circumstances, it may take up to 32 working days.
If you pass, we will email you e-certificate within 1-2 weeks. Once we receive the physical certificate, we will email you as well.
