Introduction to Functional Skills Online Exams
You’ll be taking a remotely invigilated on-screen test, monitored live by an invigilator with the support of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The test will be recorded to maintain integrity and standardisation.
What you will need:
- A Windows PC (Windows 8 or higher)
- Google Chrome browser – download instructions detailed in Candidate Guide
- Active and up to date Antivirus Program
- A strong/stable internet connection
- A Webcam and microphone
- A quiet and well-lit room where you will not be disturbed
- A valid Photo ID (no older than 10 years)
Remember: Mac OS, Chrome OS, and iOS devices are not supported. We also do not recommend using company-provided PCs or laptops or using a corporate network as this can cause technical issues. Use a Windows PC with the latest Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge for the test.
Please complete the following as soon as possible
At least three working days before your test:
- Read the Candidate Guide. VERY IMPORTANT!
- Install the latest version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. It is important to open this in Incognito (Chrome) or InPrivate (Edge) during the test.
- Please ensure that all AI applications running in the background are disabled by following the instructions provided in the AI Assistance Removal Guide.
- Run a navigation test to familiarise yourself with the exam interface. This will let you practice verifying your ID, your 360° room scan, and practice using the exam’s interface and tools. If you encounter issues, raise a support ticket.
